Blog 8: Research and Working EQ

1. What is your working EQ?
A: What types of actions or behaviors lead families and their children to go to therapy?

2. What is a possible answer to your working EQ?

  • A breakdown in communication between family members can lead to emotional withdrawl from family life.
  • Violent behavior in children or adolescents towards themselves or others may arise to conflict within themselves.

3. What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with your answer to your working EQ?
A: Two of the main sources that have helped me the most are:

  • Parker, Wayne. "When Do I Need A Family Counselor: Finding and Choosing A Family Therapist." Web. 21 Aug 2014.
  • UCD Student Advisors. "Family Problems." Web. 9 Oct 2014.

4. Where is your mentorship, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?
A: My mentorship is at Wescove Daycare in West Covina. It relates to my working EQ because I work with different children and observe the way they react to their peers and their families. I also work with my mentor, Vivian Alvarez, and in our sessions, she explains family dynamics and child development.
